Adventure Apes Lodge

Adventure Apes Lodge is located in the small village of Vasaraperä surrounded by lakes, forests and fields in the beautiful countryside. The Lodge was once home to the village school and continues to be a vibrant part of the local community by welcoming locals and travellers alike to share activities in the sports hall, share a meal or even join in on an adventure.
Our accommodations are in the traditional Finnish style - clean, simple and cosy - perfect for individuals, families and groups. The lodge also serves as the home base for Adventure Apes tours.
Dining
Breakfast is included with your stay.
We will be happy to organise a picnic or camp lunch to take on your adventures. Snacks are also available for purchase 24 hours from our shop.
Dinners are offered from our on-site kitchen serving a changing daily menu of traditional Finnish foods. Whenever possible, we source or ingredients from local farmers such as jam, potatoes, milk, eggs, meats and fish. Vegan/vegitarian/special diet menu options are accommodated whenever possible. Please let us know in advance of your stay to ensure the best selection.
On-site
We want guests to feel like part of the local community. With shared dining, recreation spaces and activities open to both travellers and locals, staying at the lodge means you are part of a vibrant community.
On-site facilities include:

Traditional wood-fired sauna
Traditional Finnish kota (BBQ hut)
Shared community area for dining, games, movies and special activities
Indoor, community sports hall for volleyball, basketball, floorball, badminton, yoga, relaxation and stretching
Equipment rental: Personal gear (boots, jackets, hats, gloves, rain gear, etc..), snowshoes, cross country skis, sledges, daypacks, sleeping bags, tents and more. (If you need something, just ask!)

What's nearby
The lodge is a 30-minute drive to the town of Kuusamo and Ruka Ski Center. Within a one-hour drive, you will find the National parks of Riisitunturin (in Posio), Oulanka (in Kuusamo) and Syöte (in Pudasjärvi).
The lodge also offers plenty of opportunities for exploring the countryside without a car, a number of hiking routes can be easily accessed from the Lodge and we will be happy to provide maps. If you'd feel more comfortable on your adventure starting out with a guided tour and orienteering lesson, we'd be happy to organise a special tour for you.
 
Accessibility
Our lodge was renovated with accessibility in mind, including accessible common areas and one fully accessible double room. We welcome travellers with physical disabilities or other special requirements. Just let us know what you might need.
