Finström church comes next to the church at Sund in size. Many question-marks still prevail around this building. It is, for instance, not like the other churches situated by the largest prehistoric grave yard of the parish, but lies embedded in artificial earth fillings towards the north and the east. Archaeological excavations 1969-1970 revealed the foundations of its wooden predecessor, probably from the 12th century. The stone church was probably erected in the 1280s, still not vaulted.
