Sandösund Resort & Camping

Sandösund Resort & Camping is located on the island of Vårdö in the Åland archipelago, surrounded by the sea, forests and beautiful natural scenery. The resort offers a variety of accommodation options, from camping pitches and simple overnight cabins to hotel rooms and a larger, fully equipped log cottage. Here, you can enjoy a stay close to the sea while exploring the islands, swimming or taking part in outdoor activities.

The resort has eight hotel rooms spread across two separate buildings. All rooms are wheelchair accessible and equipped with a TV and Wi-Fi. Breakfast and bed linen are included in the room rate. Guests staying in the simpler overnight rooms or cabins have access to shared showers and toilets. Bed linen and towels are available for an additional fee.

Sandösund is a convenient overnight stop for travellers exploring the Åland Islands by bicycle. Its location on Vårdö makes it easy to combine cycling on the main Åland islands with a journey further into the archipelago. You can stay for a night along your cycling route or use the resort as a base for exploring Vårdö and the surrounding area.

The resort has two swimming beaches, the Sandösunds Taverna restaurant and a variety of outdoor activities. Guests can enjoy kayaking, cycling, mini golf and disc golf. There is also a floating sauna and opportunities to join guided activities. Availability and opening hours may vary depending on the season.

Sandösund is also well suited to groups, school classes, associations and companies. With several accommodation options, catering facilities and activities, the resort is a practical choice for school camps, cycling groups and other group trips. Meals and activities can be arranged for groups by prior agreement.

To reach Vårdö from the main Åland islands, take the free cable ferry across Töftösundet. No advance booking is required for this crossing. If you are travelling from the eastern archipelago, you can take one of Ålandstrafiken's archipelago ferries to Hummelvik on Vårdö. These ferries must be booked in advance. Please check the current ferry timetables before travelling.
