Jyddö 5 km – sea fowl and butterflies

The landscape is varied with open areas as well as hazel groves, mowed meadows and deciduous forests. The terrain is rolling and on higher rocky hills you get scenic views of both cultural and archipelago landscapes. The trail passes a rock slope, runs along seashores and pastures of grazing cows and sheep.

Bird life is rich with seabirds, such as grass duck and northern shoveler, and a white-tailed eagle circling over the island is a common sight. There are also butterflies and many different types of plants.

Along the path there is a ten-metre-high lookout tower and several nice picnic spots with tables. One of the picnic places towards the end of the trail has a lean-to shelter with a barbecue grill. The trail can be made shorter if you don’t wish to hike the whole route.
